shoe phone

An Australian scientist Paul Gardner-Stephen has designed a phone that can be hidden in… a shoe. The idea was inspired by a spy comedy from 1960s “Get Smart!”.

Apparently the gadget has stirred some interest – enough for the 32 year old inventor to start considering online sales. Initially Dr. Gardner-Stephen from Flinders University in Adelaide and the shoemaker who helped him out didn’t have any commercial use in mind – they made the device for fun. They put a Motorola phone inside one heel and a Bluetooth transmitter in the other. Gardner-Stephen says that this solution is not impractical at all – apparently taking of your shoe takes about as long as retrieving a phone from your bag. After testing his device for 3 days Dr Gardner-Stephen says it’s fun to use. Except when driving a car.
